Codea is an iPad app with which you can program games, simulations and other visual experiences. It is based on the programming language Lua, and in most cases, you can make changes visually instead of having to type them. Not just by moving graphical elements, but for many other things too – a number can be changed by grab at it and drag up or down.
How sophisticated creations can Codea used? Judge for yourself after you've viewed the video below, a trailer for the upcoming game Starsceptre.
Starsceptre developed by Richard Morgan and everything except the graphics for animation was done in Codea on the iPad. The game in retro style a la the 16-bit consoles such as the SNES and Megadrive. Upplägger reminiscent of games like Gradius, R-Type and Lifeforce, vertical 2D scrolling and frantic shooting at everything that moves.
