The Swedish invention Flic is a small, programmable button great about a two Euro coin. From today we will be able to equip our Macs with real keys to perform certain functions on our behalf, perfect to have on your desk next to the Mac keyboard.
Do not miss: We are testing Palette Gear Mac – an expensive must-have for professionals
Flic-button pairing with bluetooth, and on the Mac, we need to install Flic App. Via the app, we can then configure a maximum of three different functions based on some predetermined events, which are activated by a pressure, a double tap or hold down the button.
From the start there are several potential applications for the programmable button. We lack such a play and pause button for Spotify in the new Mac – play button ended after a submenu on the Touch Bar – can we let a Flic button to take over the task instead.
Or why not use Flic as a presentation button in Keynote – the pressure to go to the next slide, two press to skip back. The button can be used by the entrepreneur or Freelance to time projects in Timely, or to control office Philips Hue lights, and of course, the buttons also supports automatiseringappen IFTTT.
The most fun so far, we think, however, is the application of Slack. With a Flic button on the desktop, we allow it to become the official lunch button – Pressing the button shows that we are "away from keyboard," and sticks to lunch instead. Smooth worse.
