The tablet of a hard existence. To squeeze in the gadget between the laptop and our mobile phones, which are becoming larger, can be difficult to justify. While the iPad is very good at all, such as the benefit of a large screen, long battery life and a lightweight chassis. It is all fine to read the newspaper at the breakfast table or watch Netflix or SVT Play in the evening.
A narrow range of applications, perhaps, but the iPad has yet found its place in many homes. Not least, it is a gadget with a long life, which is probably also part of the reason why sales are declining.
The least exciting product Apple released a long time
It should be said right away that the new iPad is a fairly unexciting gadget. This is not the PC replacement Apple fans often dream about, but just another iPad. If you have an older iPad beginning to give up, this is an excellent choice.
And a very safe choice. All that was true for the iPad so far, is also true for this model. Battery life is sufficient, the screen is very good (albeit somewhat weaker than before, more on that later), the chassis is light, and most of the apps are well adapted to the larger screen. This is an excellent iPad.
Oh, and the name. We have to sort it out, too. IPad is simply called … Ipad. Apple calls it sometimes for the fifth-generation iPad, and therefore seems to see this more as a successor to the iPad 4, than as a successor to the now defunct iPad Air series. We could also call it the iPad 9.7 inch iPad (2017) – or just budget-toad.
