Practically, but 9to5Mac first noted – there's a small catch. The disk can only provide up to 45 watts to the computer, which is less than the up to 60 watts and 87 watts Macbook Pro 13 inch, and 15 inch may need in more extreme cases. Do not expect to be able to both charge the battery and occupied with processor heavy tasks when your computer is connected to the hard disk. Little Macbook, needs only 29 watts, however, can get enough power.
The HDD is a traditional one, and spinning in slow 5,400 rpm. That, along with modest 45 watts, making this perhaps more suited as a backup station, from where we now also can power the computer while we are backing up to Time Machine, for example.
G-drive USB c will formatted for Mac OS, available in versions with 4, 8 or 10 terabytes. US prices range from just under 2 000 to just under SEK 4 500 for the top model. Yet we have no Swedish release date available, but we expect that it will be here in due course.
