The future is here and it's buttonless. With Iphone X, Apple has taken the last step to removing the home button, and replaced it with various gestures .
However, if for some reason you are not satisfied with The new interface allows you to add a virtual home button on the screen, always accessible and button visible. This is done with the help function Assistivetouch .
Assistivetouch has been available since Iphone 4 and IOS 4, and places a small floating virtual button on the screen displaying shortcuts to several commonly used features, as in part Users otherwise are much harder to activate. You enable the feature in Settings -> General -> Utilities -> Assistivetouch . There you can also set which features you want shortcuts to.
