Iphone 7 Plus was the first Iphone to get a dual camera on the back and the same type of dual camera is also available in the 2017 Iphone X. But a look at the specifications suggests that just the telecamerameter should perform better than last year's Iphone 7 Plus- camera in darker surroundings. The aperture is now 2.4 instead of earlier 2.8 (lower number is better), and even the telecameror now has optical image stabilization.
Dan Provost from the studio Studio Neat shows in a video how fast Iphone switches from the wide angle camera to the telecamer as he slowly raises the brightness of a room. Indeed, Iphone aims to use the wide-angle camera at low light, even though we pressed the 2x zoom button on the camera. Instead, the image is taken as a digitally zoomed image with the wide angle camera, but with a better telecamera, the phone can be switched to the telecamer earlier and thus get the correct optical zoom instead of digital zoom.
