Many enthusiastic Iphone users upgrade every or at least every two years and each time there is an older Iphone over which you may not know what to do. Many choose to sell their old phone, often at Blocket, while others give it away to relatives. But there is much else you can do, from submitting it on recycling for a small discount on the new one to use it as a surveillance camera at home. Here we go through seven ways to give your old Iphone a life goal when you no longer use it as, yes, phone.
The first thing to do is identify your Iphone model. You may have an even older phone in a bureau box that you also want to revive and do something with.
Here are our recommendations for the best you can do with the various Iphone models released since 2007:
First Generation Released 2007: If you actually have one of the very first Iphone devices that only had mobile or cdma, it's best to save it and see if it will become a collective item in the future.
Iphone 3G, released 2008: An old classic. A true old goddess. We suggest that you keep it as an emergency phone or phone to have in the woods and fields so you do not risk your new animal grip. It's one of the most solid models.
Iphone 3GS, Released 2009: Like the Iphone 3G, it's built like a tank.
Iphone 4 Released 2010: Apple recently downloaded the support of this so we can not recommend using it as a phone because you can not get any service of neither soft – or hardware. Give it away or use it as an "Ipod".
Iphone 4S, Released 2011: A well-built phone and a real staple in performance from Iphone 4. But it can no longer use the latest iOS and will soon be out of time.
Iphone 5, released 2012: This model was released just before Apple developed a touch id. It may still be a perfect phone for a younger sibling or relative who still has no touchscreen mobile.
Iphone 5C, Released 2013: Basically the same as Iphone 5, just a bit newer and with plastic cover.
Iphone 5S, Released 2013: First Iphone with Touch ID. This is a good phone that may be useful if you need a mobile phone that is not the whole world to lose.
Iphone 6/6 Plus, released 2014: A real good phone that does not miss much compared to the latest models.
Iphone 6S / 6S Plus, released 2015: Used by millions of people and still for sale along with Iphone 7. Also has headphone jack …
Iphone SE, Released 2016: Basically an Iphone 6 with the same shape as Iphone 5S. If you got one and have regretted you for the smaller size, you can have it as a backup phone, or maybe give it to someone you really like and would appreciate a little Iphone.
Iphone 7 / 7 Plus released 2016: second most recent model. This definitely holds true. But if you absolutely need to buy an 8 or X, sell your Iphone 7! Second hand value is still good. You can sell it on, for example, the block or at Mtorget .
Iphone 8/8 Plus and Iphone X Released 2017: Latest Model. Why did you buy it if you think about getting rid of it?
1. Change Your Old Iphone When Purchasing New
The first option is perhaps the easiest and most obvious: Submit it to the store / operator when you buy new, at a discount on the new or just pure recycling. Apple has its own in-app, where you can give Apple your old Iphone (or Ipad, Mac – yes, even an old PC or Android works). In return, you get a small discount on your new Iphone. There will be no big money but better than not getting any good at all and you know at least that Apple recovers the old phone properly and with the least possible environmental impact.
Apple promises to recycle any electronics products if you take with them to an Apple store. They do not have to be manufactured by Apple. For some Iphone models and other Apple products, you get a gift card that you can use to buy your new Iphone or something else.
For really old models, you will not get a discount, but Apple can still recover them correctly.
… or sell it
If you have a newer old Iphone, then it may be worth selling it instead. To a friend, on Blocket, Mtorget, or otherwise get a snap for your old, but functioning Iphone. At Mtorget, you can value your Iphone.
2. Using Your Old Iphone As Media Player
Another option for an Iphone that has become something for years but still works well is to use it as a media player. Iphone was initially described as an Ipod you can call, so why not let your old Iphone live on as an Ipod? If you have a lot of free space, you do not have to stick to music alone, but you can save movies and pictures as well.
This may be an interesting option, especially if your new Iphone does not have a lot of space, since you can skip to sync your music library and have all the music on your old phone. Additionally, the battery looks like a new one.
Use the Old Iphone as Remote Control
Many Android devices can be used as remote controls for everything from stereo to an old TV. Iphone has never had an ir-transmitter of that kind, but with Apple's Remote Control app, you can still recycle an old Iphone as a remote. It's only that you can stick to Apple TV and iTunes on Mac. For Apple TV, it's a good way to put away the included (and easily wiped) remote control in a safe place. Just have my Iphone active on it and you'll find it if it would disappear from the sofa pillows.
Donate your old Iphone to family or friends
Most of us have had a younger relative or a sibling who wanted to use our Iphone the most all the time. Do you have an old Iphone you do not need and want to do a good deed (to both your relative and yourself, who do not worry about your new animal breeding) you can give it away.
Use your old Iphone as a baby monitor
There are even more creative ways to continue using an old faded iphone. For example, there are many apps on the App Store (such as Cloud Baby Monitor) that turn your phone into a baby monitor, complete with real-time video you can watch on another Iphone, or on an Ipad or Mac.
Different apps have different features, such as motion detectors, alarms and, in some cases, even the ability to play calming music if the child wakes up. Considering that standalone baby monitors can cost hundreds of dollars, an old Iphone and a single tripod can be a much cheaper option.
Use your old camera as a surveillance camera
If you do not have a baby to keep an eye on, you may be able to use your phone as a surveillance camera. You can place the phone strategically to watch your computer or expensive stereo system, for example. All you need is a way to keep it upright and connected to a charger, as well as an app (for example, Presence, which is free).
Just be aware that you may not use outdoor surveillance cameras or in public areas
How to keep your old Iphone: Save it as a backup phone
If none of the previous options fall into your taste, you can always put your old one Put the Iphone in a safe place, for example in a safe, and save it as a kind of backup phone. If you (usch and fy) would be robbed on your new phone, or lose it otherwise, you can quickly and easily restore from your last backup to your old phone and have it temporarily until you replace the new one.
